Problem

When the app starts recording the following error message is displayed:

The specified device interface or feature level is not supported on this system.

If your device supports multiple display processors, run the application on the integrated GPU instead of on the discrete GPU.

This issue occurs because the app does not support being run against the discrete GPU on a Microsoft Hybrid system.

Resolution

To work around this issue, run the application on the integrated GPU instead of on the discrete GPU on a Microsoft Hybrid system, as described below. If you are already running on the integrated GPU, run the application on the discrete GPU instead.

Note: Before configuring the display, make sure you have installed latest display drivers on your device.

Windows Settings

To change the GPU for Screenbits from Windows settings:

  1. Click Settings from Start menu open Settings app.
  2. Click System to open System settings.
  3. Click Display to open Display settings.
  4. Scroll down to find Graphics Settings link, click on it to open Graphics settings.
  5. Choose Universal app from the selector under Choose an app to set preference.
  6. Select Screenbits - Screen Recorder from the selector below it.
  7. Click Add to add Screenbits - Screen Recorder to the list.
  8. Click Screenbits - Screen Recorder from the list then click Options.
  9. Choose High Performance or Power saving then click Save.
  10. Close Screenbits then open it again and try to start recording.

Note: If the problem persists, follow the steps above but choose the other option Power Saving/High Performance in step 9.

NVIDIA Control Panel

To select Integrated GPU for Screenbits from NVIDIA Control Panel:

  1. Right click on desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Select Manage 3D Settings from the task list on the left side of the panel.
  3. Under the Program Settings tab, click Add to open Add dialog.
  4. Select Screenbits.App in the list, then click Add Selected Program to select the app and close the dialog.
  5. Select Integrated graphics from the Preferred graphics processor selector.
  6. Click Apply to apply the changes.


AMD Catalyst Control Center

To select Integrated GPU for Screenbits from AMD Catalyst Control Center:

  1. Right click on desktop and select Catalyst Control Center.
  2. Click Power to open the Power page.
  3. Click Switchable Graphics to open the Switchable Graphics page.
  4. Under the Recent Applications list, click Not Assigned button in front of Screenbits, then select Power Saving.
  5. Click Apply to apply the changes.
